Check what you can verify without the supplier's help. Look the certificate numbers up at the issuer, ask which steel goes into which line and for the mill certificate, test free samples in the tier you will order, and read the written terms for payment, defects and guarantee before you pay anything. A supplier who publishes all of this is easier to check, and easier to hold to it.
1. Can I verify the certificates myself?
A certificate number is only evidence if you can look it up at the body that issued it. For each certificate, find the issuer's own register and search the number there.
TGI's, as published on /certification/:
ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016, certificate 920229, LL-C (Certification) Czech Republic a.s., valid to 4 December 2027. Check it on the issuer's register at ll-c.org/verification.
CE, Class I devices (Regulation (EU) 2017/745), EC/5231/23, CNC Services, valid to 23 March 2028. This is a manufacturer's self-declaration, and the page says so.
Free Sale Certificate, District Health Officer, Sialkot, D.O. No. 209. No expiry is stated on the document, and the page reproduces it as it is.
Memberships: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Member ID A-15504) and the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (Member ID T142), each searchable in the body's own members directory.
Watch the scope, too. A certificate covers what its scope says and nothing more. TGI's ISO 13485 scope, for example, does not cover training articles or silicone and rubber products.
2. Does the supplier say which steel goes into which line?
"Surgical stainless steel" is not an answer. Ask for the AISI grade per line, where the steel comes from, and whether it arrives with the mill's certificate. TGI publishes all three on /tiers/. See also the note "How the steel grades actually differ".
3. Will they send samples in the tier I will order?
Free samples for all buyers: you pay only the sample shipping cost. Samples dispatched within 48 hours. Ask for the sample in the exact tier you will order; a sample in better steel than the order is a sample of a different product. The note "How sample approval works" lists what to check on it.
4. Are the minimum, the lead time and the payment terms in writing?
Before any order, you should have in writing: the minimum per article, the lead time from advance, the payment structure and what the balance is released against. TGI publishes all four: one minimum per category, instruments ~2-3 weeks · full sets ~4-6 weeks after advance, and payment by TT with the balance released against video proof of your finished parcel. 5. What happens when something is wrong?
Ask for the defect terms before you need them: how long you have to report, what evidence they want, who pays the replacement and the shipping. TGI's: report on WhatsApp within 7 days of delivery with video and photographs; replacement instruments free of charge, dispatched within 24 hours of TGI seeing them; you pay the shipping. Premium and Executive tier instruments, hollowware and sterilization containers carry a one-year guarantee against manufacturing defects, including material faults and rust.
Damage that happened after the goods left Sialkot is a claim against your carrier. The video of your parcel at the shipping office is sent to you before shipment and is the evidence that claim needs.
6. Is the company where it says it is?

7. Does a person answer, and when?
Send a real inquiry and see what comes back. A person reads every inquiry and answers the same working day. The Sialkot office answers 10am-5pm, Monday to Saturday, Pakistan Standard Time.
